As a standard, the exterior surface of all pipes and fittings and accessory items are painted using a suitable red oxide primer. Inaddition a one inch wide colour code band is painted on the periphery of the pipe or fitting using enamel paint. For pipes this brand is provided near the fixed flange end of the pipe. The colour band serves as an identification of liner material as stated below.
